Celebrating summer fun with SCNB nets picture-taking patrons free bar-b-q and more
(Cary, NC) – Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® (SCNB) is pleased to announce the launch of their annual summer photo promotion, which rewards participating customers with in-store gift certificates that can be used toward the purchase of bar-b-q and other SCNB menu favorites.
Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® wants to know – where do you go on vacation? The beach or the mountains? A cruise or a campground? A theme park, ballpark, or national park? Or the open road or off the beaten path? No matter where you roam this summer, don’t bring another boring t-shirt back from vacation… instead, win free bar-b-q when you TAKE a great picture in an SCNB t-shirt at your destination of choice!

We like to think of it as a tasty way to reward our most loyal patrons – with free rewards served in bar-b-q, fried chicken, and sweet tea”, Averitte added.
Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q’s customers can participate in the “What I Did On My Summer Vacation” photo promotion by purchasing a Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q t-shirt at any location for only $7.99 (choose from red, green, gray and blue), wearing the shirt while on vacation and snapping a picture or two, uploading the picture at http://summer-with-scnb.tumblr.com/, or emailing it to contest@scnbnc.com before August 26. Participants will receive another t-shirt for free, plus a $10.00 Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® gift certificate!

Just yesterday we starting a new contest with our friends from Heinz… the folks behind our tasty ketchup. Two weeks ago, we asked folks to share their memories of their first SCNB bar-b-q sandwich with us in exchange for some always handy SCNB gift certificates and a chance to win a bar-b-q lunch for 20 delivered! We got some great submissions – they made us quite nostalgic! Here are some of our favorites:

The first time I had the pleasure of sinking my teeth into a pork sandwich was June 2000. My son-in-law was stationed at Cherry Point N.C. in the Marines. They said they found the Barb b que place in N. C. With it I had potato salad and baked beans and they knocked my socks off. Since then I have been ordering products online. Thanks for GREAT products.

Week 3 – Nominate a Military Family to Receive a 20-Person “Coming Home” Party Pack – Online
(This event was originally scheduled for week four, but due to delays in receiving our in-store decals, those will not be available until next week. Stay tuned to the blog for more updates!)
Visitors to http://www.SCNBNC.com are encouraged to submit a brief nomination or story about a military family they know who has a family member deployed overseas. Each day, Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® will share a few of the best submissions online (anonymously, if requested by the submitting party) and on July 31, 2011, one submission will be selected, at random, to receive a 20-person “Coming Home” party pack, which includes five pints of bar-b-q, 30 pieces of fried chicken, five pints of cole slaw, five pints of potato salad, 10 dozen hushpuppies, two gallons of tea, and place settings for 20 guests.

According to Daily Republic writer C.W. Plunkett, “fried chicken has been around for hundreds of years. It was a recipe that was first brought to this country by Scottish immigrants, and then it was later perfected by cooks in the South who added flavorful and unique spices to their coating mix”… and we couldn’t agree more!
In honor of the holiday, we want to know – what’s your favorite place to enjoy fresh Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q fried chicken? Do you enjoy it on a boat with a large cup of sweet tea? Or at a picnic with a double serving of our tasty potato salad?
