Giving back to the community

Our local SCNB (Mebane, NC) is awesome at giving back to the community…fundraising events for schools and relay for life….what a great experience!!

Main Stop in between is a Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q

We live in Florida and travel to Chesapeake, VA quite often to see family. Our main stop is always at the Smithfield Bar-B-Q restaurant in Smithfield NC. We made a stop there last week on February 5, 2013. I always purchase at least 5 pints of bar-b-q to take back home to FL, since Florida’s idea of bar-b-q is a little pulled pork with lots of red sauce, not the same at all. When I stopped there a few minutes after the store opened and went inside to place my order the young man was very helpful. He offered to wrap them for travel and even to put them on ice for me. When he saw that I walked with a walker he carried the bag out to the car for me and asked my husband if we had enough ice to get home. He was so wonderful and very friendly, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with your store. I have had bar-b-q from a lot of major places, but never has it been as good as it is from SCNB. Keep on doing what you are doing because it is the best that is out there anywhere.

Thanks for such wonderful feel good food. You top them all with your Bar-B-Q.

Sincerely, Cathy Bishop

Proof he eats chicken and not just hotdogs anymore.

t-rhodes-1-31-13My son, Tyler, usually says he doesn’t like chicken but my husband and I do. My husband was raised in Eastern NC and I migrated from the cold New England area. We love to eat at Smithfield’s and we always ordered my son the hot dog. Well one time he saw me begging my husband for the crispy skin of his chicken (my favorite part). So Tyler decided he wants to try it. From that point on no more hot dogs for him at SCNB. He must get the chicken kiddies meal. So I finally snapped this picture to prove to my family up North he will eat chicken, I just won’t let on it was made at SCNB. We will keep that as our little secret right ?!?!

Converting NY Steak-eaters to BBQ Lovers

I have lived here for 15 yrs and enjoyed eating each week at Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q. Last week I had a visit from some die-hard New Yorkers. I offered to take them to dinner. We went to Smithfield’s. They wanted steak, but I insisted they try my #1 place. They were all very pleased. When they were leaving Wake Forest, they stopped to get chicken & bbq for the road back to New York.

Converting a Picky Eater into a BBQ-lover

I took my son and daughter shopping in Raleigh NC and I decided to let my son who is ten years old try some barbecue. My son has never eaten barbecue and is very picky. I had a tough time of getting him to try it, so I suggested he put it only his fries. He was like this is really good and he said he would save some to put on his pizza when he gets home. He put it on the pizza and thought the tomato sauce on the pizza made it taste even better. I was so happy because I’m finally getting him to try different foods.

Brought Back Memories of Grandmother and Cousins

I finally visited a Smithfield’s in the summer last year and it was great food. They had some white bags on the counter that had pork skins in them and I decided to buy a bag. It bought back memories when I was a child and my Grandmother would bake the skins from a fresh hog. My cousins and I would just go crazy trying to get a piece of that meat because it was so delicious. I hadn’t had any of that kind of pork skins that tasted like hers in over thirty years and it made my day special. Thanks for bringing back a special memory.

Found Memories of a Dinner with My Grandfather

My feel good story, Hmmm… I have several with Smithfield’s and at several different locations but my #1 feel good story involves the store off I-40 Exit 312 in Clayton, NC. My wife, mom, grandfather, and son took a day family trip from Raleigh to Wilmington to visit my sister and her 4 kids. We had a wonderful relaxing trip and great family time. We arrived early in the day and of course the time flew by as it always does when you are having fun and by late afternoon it was time to head back home. We mutually decided as a family to stop and have Smithfield’s for dinner and did so in Clayton right before arriving back to Raleigh. Of course the barbecue was fantastic and I enjoyed surprising my family with the tasty banana pudding for dessert. After a yummy meal we went back to our homes. Little did I know but that would be my last time seeing my grandfather who I called Papa. I look back often and relive that special day which also happened to be his wife’s (my Granny’s birthday who had passed away in 2000) too. I will never forget that trip on 7-28-2002, our last meal together at Smithfield’s, and him. I am thankful I have one of my favorite pictures of him from that day.

Texans Love North Carolina BBQ Too

My family has always loved Smithfield’s! But, one memory always sticks out each time we eat our BBQ & chicken. My mothers family used to have a summer family reunion each year at our family’s home in Morehead City. One of her brothers lived in Texas and always made the drive back home to Morehead with his family. Now, his wife was a Texas BBQ fan and so were his children, but they knew as soon as he hit the NC state lines that he would be making a quick stop at the first Smithfield’s he came across! But that wasn’t all, they always claim that he would then stop at the next one and the next and so on until he got to Morehead! At that point, you’d think he’d be ready for seafood (and he was), but somehow he would still have room during each day of his stay to grab at least one or two BBQ sandwiches! Seriously, he loves his Smithfield’s so much that it has become one of his yearly Christmas gifts! So, although we eat there often and certainly love it too, I can’t help but think of my uncle and those fun summer visits and his many many stops at Smithfield’s!

Special Church Service means Smithfield’s is Catering

Ok. First of all I would like to start by saying that I always feel good when I have Smithfields Chicken and BBQ to eat but there is a time when I feel better than others. The church that I attend ALWAYS get SCNB when we have a special service at church and we are serving dinner. For example….quarterly meeting…SMITHFIELDS….pastor’s anniversary….SMITHFIELDS……women’s day….SMITHFIELDS. With that being said it is an awesome feeling to enjoy SCNB surrounded by church family and friends. We are always hoping there are leftovers of chicken so that we can have some to take home. (lol). I look forward to special services because I know that we will have SCNB. I think the funniest thing is trying to sit through service smelling the aroma of chicken and BBQ coming from the fellowship hall. If I win I will take my kids to lunch after church and we will think about everyone that couldn’t join us. lol.

Took Mom Out to Dinner and Now She’s Hooked

My favorite memory from SCNB was the day my whole family went with Mom for a dinner out of the house. Momma ordered us all fried chicken and she ordered a plate of bbq chicken. I tried hers and I have been in love ever since!!
