“When Sandra Brooks of Rex Blood Services came to us and told us that ‘every day in the US, over 32,000 blood transfusions take place’ and that many of them occur in our Triangle-area hospitals, often benefiting patients fighting long-term illnesses such as cancer and sickle cell anemia, we knew we wanted to help support them in whatever way that we, as a restaurant brand, could”, says Richard Averitte, Marketing Director for Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q®. “Treating those life-sustaining volunteers who donate blood to lunch, essentially, is something we took great pride in being able to do”, Averitte added.

Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® Announces 33rd Store with New Jacksonville Location

Friday, July 6th, 2012

4,900 square foot of fried chicken, bar-b-q, hushpuppies, and sweet tea set to fulfill hungry locals and travelers alike with opening of second Jacksonville, NC location

(Cary, NC) – Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® (SCNB) is pleased to announce the opening of a 33 rd location of the NC-based restaurant brand. The new store officially opened Tuesday, June 19th, at 424 Yopp Road in Jacksonville.

The latest opening for the popular quick-serve restaurant concept boasts an impressive 4,900 square feet and can seat approximately 140 diners hungry for the brand’s famous fried chicken and Eastern North Carolina style bar-b-q.

The second of two Jacksonville locations for SCNB also helps to satisfy a very particular segment of the North Carolina population, which Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q is proud to serve: our state’s locally-stationed members of the military. Statements like those of Kelly J Shannon, Jr. are common on the SCNB Facebook page, Twitter, and email inboxes – “Hands down my favorite place to eat when I was stationed in NC.” Both the latest Yopp Road location and the other Jacksonville location on Gum Branch Road are less than a 15 minute drive from Camp Lejeune’s Main Gate and Visitor Center.

The new Jacksonville location, as well as all 32 other locations, is currently operating under “Summer Hours”: 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

“Onslow County is one of the state’s oldest counties, but it’s certainly not slowing down by any means,” says Richard Averitte, Marketing Director of Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q. “Onslow County continues to grow and offer new opportunities to its residents and visitors every year and we are very excited to have opened our 33rd location in this part of the state,” adds Averitte.

Celebrating Our Country

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

On July 4, 1776, we claimed our independence from Britain and Democracy was born. Every day thousands leave their homeland to come to the “land of the free and the home of the brave” so they can begin their American Dream.

The United States is truly a diverse nation made up of dynamic people. Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings.

It’s not just about the fireworks — although they are an awfully good and popular starting point for Americans on the holiday home front.

Independence Day means fun, food and frivolity across towns. Lining up along the roadways and gathering in parks to see fireworks is a summer tradition.  For the country’s most patriotic event, Americans adorn themselves with red, white and blue.

In recognition of our country’s birthday, a red, white, and blue ribbon will prominently be displayed in all our dining rooms.  Our July 4th table arrangement celebrates our country’s freedom as a symbol of our pride in America.

On Wednesday, tune in to our Facebook Fan Page or our Twitter to see if you can guess which location the photo of the “July 4th Table Arrangement” was taken. The first correct guess wins a $20 gift certificate.
