Dear Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q,

Much thanks to SCNB for its sponsorship of last week’s Ladder Program!

Everyone enjoyed the meal, and the folks at the Wake Forest SCNB location were very kind and helpful.  The food was excellent, as always.

This year, the Ladder Program has served nearly 40 at-risk (and often low-income) Wakefield High School students who need additional assistance to succeed in the school system.  10 volunteer teachers donate their time to offer more specialized assistance to these students each week.  Wakefield transports the students to the church after school, and after an hour of tutoring and an hour of recreation, they use the church bus to transport students home.  With many of these students eating as early as 11am and not returning home until 5:30-6pm, our food sponsors like SCNB are a big part of helping the students focus and get through the longer afternoon.  Great food like SCNB also provides another incentive for students to remain committed to the program!

Celebration Church and Wakefield High School thank SCNB for its support of the community through the Wakefield Ladder Program!
