Vandora Springs Elementary School, part of the Wake County Public School System in Garner, North Carolina, held it’s annual Chairs for Hope Charity Project on April 19th to benefit Garner’s Relay for Life and The American Cancer Society.
Smithfield Chicken N’ Bar-B-Q as part of its long standing support of this project, donated wooden chairs to be painted by the 5th grade art club, school staff members and community leaders which were then auctioned. The fundraising goal for this year is $3,000 and currently $2,700 has been raised with additional monies expected.
Richard Averitte, restaurant operations & director of marketing, for Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q, explains their role, “Chairs of Hope is wonderful program and we are proud to be part of a program that engages children in their community and supports art education and appreciation.”
The organizer of this project and Vandora Springs Elementary School Art Teacher, Jim Hunt states, “Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q has been a gracious sponsor and we are very appreciative to them for helping us with this wonderful outreach project.”
